Did you know I love insects...they all have a purpose..even the ones we deem as pests. I love to study them and see all their exoskeletons and brilliant colors. My favorites are spiders(arachnids) and praying mantises BUT my passion is in our honey bees. I LOVE BEES!!! And I recently created a cake for a very lovely couple who aim to teach people of all backgrounds and ages on the importance of bees! They recently had their 2 year business anniversary and announced their forthcoming work with the Tacoma Nature Center supplying and caring for their Honey Bee exhibit.
Stop by their page here: https://www.facebook.com/honeyshealthyhive/
On top of their teaching the community they have helped relocate hives, work with other bee keeping enthusiasts on maintaining healthy hives and produce some pretty tasty honey..you HAVE to try the creamed honey!
I had the honor to supply a fun bass cake to the Got Your 6 Fishing organization's charity auction with all proceeds going towards our active or veteran military and their families.
This organization puts together fishing trips/events to support our military in the battle against post-traumatic stress and adjustment disorders. Check out their page for ideas on what you can do to help!
So this is pretty cool..I'm sure you all have heard of Cakewreaks.com and their collection of cake mishaps but did you know that they also feature collections of cakes from artistic masters? My humble little Water Dragon cake was featured in their November collection of fantastical creatures...https://www.cakewrecks.com/…/fantastic-sweets-and-how-to-fi…
My cake is also the first cake that pops up in Pinterest when you type Water Dragon cake. It has been recreated many times by other sweet bakers around the world! What an honor to be part of someones celebration on the other side of the globe! YAY for dragons!
I was SO honored recently to be ASKED by a producer of the Food Network to tryout for their upcoming Halloween Baking Challenge! Upon accepting the invitation and after a few video taped interviews I realized I was not ready for this great adventure and politely stepped away, declining this year and mentioning I'd like to try out for next year. There was a LOT involved with the interview process and trying to juggle present orders and the networks requests of baked items needed to be done and photographed It became difficult. Also due to prior commitments of orders(wedding cakes)due the weeks they would have to fly me out to California it was just not feasible. But I have no regrets and I feel I still came out on top by learning what to do and how to do it for next year!
Yes!! (does a happy dance) After almost a year of excited anticipation I am so happy to announce my work has been published, with the help of some extraordinary people in the Spring/Summer edition of South Sound Wedding and Event magazine.
This was a warm welcoming surprise amongst the recent snow fall that kinda stranded us for a few days.
This opportunity would not have been possible without the talents of the very talented Sarah Wells of Photos By SW who put this all together by contacting local artists and contributors for her photo shoot. You can check out her work here... https://www.facebook.com/photosbySWells/

As i'm sure you have noticed, the hustle and bustle of last year kept me so busy it made it impossible to upload new cakes let alone sit and write on my blog...but I told myself that I really want to try and keep up on it, for you, my inquisitive audience (taps on the glass)..if anybody is out there?
So as I sit here, working on uploads, I happen to look back in my gallery and it's pretty crazy how far I've come in this crazy baking adventure. I'm certain you've noticed from my early cake to my now cakes....but let me share with you one of my VERY first cakes I made for my daughter's 2nd birthday.
If you guessed Disney's Little Einsteins..you are correct! Was it hard to figure it out?
This cake was a tad bit of a disaster...not just on how it looked but all the elements were against me that HOT June day. Which is why it looks like it is melting right on the tray. I barely remember this cake.....it's true when they say that sometimes your brain...
I have been blessed with meeting a lovely photographer, wife and super mom of 2 cuties! Stephanie has been using my cakes for her customers smash cake sessions with each session tailored to a special theme in mind, she adds backdrops, decor and of course one of my special cakes!
You simply must check out her gallery for her other family, maternity and newborn photos, simply stunning!
I was honored to be a part of one of JBLM's military ball celebrations by creating the ceramonial cutting cake.
The display table they had it on was so nice looking and really made the cake look finished.
This cake was huge and I was barely able to walk it in and had a hand cut, edible topper.
I think I need a cart next time :)
Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry cakes with vanilla, fudge and strawberry swirl buttercream. Marshmallow and Swiss fondant, gum paste, edible gold
A Spring themed mini treat table for the teachers conference dinner. They put in long hours during parent conferences and the awesome PTO hosts their dinner and I bring the sweets! They so deserve it and more :)
(Sorry for the awkward photos, it's hard to get the whole table in the picture)
Vanilla and Orange creamsicle cupcakes, cake batter popcorn and Spring crispie treats.
Hand made banner.
Once again I'm proud to participate in a local charity auction for JBLM's 100 year anniversary. All proceeds at this event go towards scholarships for military families as well as grants for local organizations in the private sector.
I was happy to donate 2 fun cakes to their cause. Thank you JBLM for all you do for our country!
A pretty country/boho style cake with hand sculpted and painted cattle skull and feathers, the top has a hand piped dream catcher (sorry was in a rush to get it out the door and did not get a picture of the top).

The other charity cake a fun unicorn cake!
